Harley-Davidson MotorClothes has been making its line of Functional Riding Gear (FXRG) for years, and, for those of you who don’t already know, I have been a big fan of the products from the beginning. But now, available for the first time ever, are the new FXRG rain jacket (# 98240-10VM, $295-$315) and FXRG rain pants (#98241-10VM, $255-$275) you see here.
The jacket boasts a zipper front with storm flap, elastic cuffs with hook-and-loop closures, an adjustable bungee cord hem and a removable, helmet-friendly hood. The pants feature full leg, two-way zippers with storm flaps, heat-resistant shields on inner legs, an elastic waist with adjustable suspenders, and stirrups.
There are two zippered, hand-warmer pockets, one zippered chest pocket on the jacket, and one zippered pocket on the left thigh of the pants. 3M Scotchlite reflective material placed in key locations give the wearer added visibility.
Both items are made from 100 percent nylon GORE-TEX Paclite material and each comes with its own individual storage bag. My favorite features of this foul weather gear are the GORE, which makes it waterproof while being breathable, and the Paclite, which gives it minimum weight and pack volume. In other words, this set is perfect for a motorcycle tour where protection, weight, and space are critical. God knows I can usually protect myself, but I can also always use help in the weight and space department.
Waterproof, breathable, lightweight, and packable … the FXRG rain jacket and pants are the ideal traveling companions. These products are one of the newest additions to the MotorClothes collection and because of their versatility, they are now a key part of my legendary riding wardrobe. AIMB
